When I was sick, there was a point I literally didn’t which way was up or which way was down. But I did know I needed to heal. I put faith in the possibility of that healing.

We have to have faith in our healing process. When you’re feeling good have faith in feeling good. You can’t think “I feel good now, but how am I going to feel tomorrow.” At that moment, you have just told your body that it’s not going to feel well tomorrow. Have faith in the ability for you to heal. Have faith in who you are, in bringing harmony to this body. Because when you do it in a mindful and loving way, the body will respond. Have faith in that. Listen to what the body needs and have faith in that. Have faith that this body wants to be healthy. Without a doubt, this body wants to be healthy. So give it what it needs. Faith is part of that process. You can’t have that process fully without having faith and without releasing doubts. If you start feeling ill, don’t assume it’s part of the disease you’ve been told you have. Don’t lose the faith and don’t go back to the doubts. The body has “off” days. Have faith in the process. Have faith in you, to be able to go through with that process. Have faith in you that you can discern what’s good for you. Feel it, you can feel what’s good for you. Allow “you” to be in alignment with yourself and have faith in that alignment. When the doubts start creeping in, be aware of what they are and don’t indulge them. I know it’s easier said than done. But, until we do, the healing process is very difficult. Until we do, we set ourselves back. It’s not that anything else is setting us back. WE are setting ourselves back. Be very clear on that. I’m not saying it’s your fault, but we have to be clear on what is holding us back. Is it fear? Doubt? Old recordings in our memory banks? Give yourself the benefit of self love and be willing to go for it. See what this body can do. Try. Walk away from what you have been told you have. Go for it. Fully, both feet in. Not one toe testing the water. Both feet in, dynamically, without a doubt. Leave the doubt behind and jump in the puddle and make a big splash. Let the universe know you’re here. You’re here to stay in health. You’re here to do what you need to become healthy. Replace the doubt with gratitude, knowing that the healing is happening.

It’s been two years since the launch of “Transcending MS.” Wow! How time flies. This book was born out of my experience overcoming MS. Yes, I got better and became healthy. But, it wasn’t enough for me to get better, I needed to try to help others as well. Helping others is what this book is all about. It’s growing and spreading organically.

So now, two years later, I’d like to know where and to whom it has traveled. Whether you have MS or not, would you share your experience in reading Transcending MS? You can share below or tag me.

I’m looking forward to your story.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE UP?

Slide1.jpg

In order to heal we have to be willing to give up the things that make us sick. What does that mean? It means that we need to be willing to take a good hard look at our lives and discern what in our lives is not good for us. It may be toxic relationships. Are we surrounded by vampires instead of people who lift us?. It may be the foods we eat. Are we eating junk? Are we eating foods that we may be sensitive or allergic? . It may be our jobs. Do you go go into “flight or fight mode”just thinking about your job? It may be something we are holding onto from our past that keeps creeping into our thoughts. What are you holding on to? What chapter haven’t you closed in your life? All of these cause imbalance in our bodies. Maybe, it’s time to clean house. It’s time to close chapters and start writing new ones. Be willing to give up what isn’t serving you in wellness.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

What would you do in life if you weren’t sick? What would you do if you were completely healthy? What were you doing before you got sick and were completely healthy? Did you take that health for granted? The answer is probably “yes.” We all do. We all take for granted the place and time that is the present moment. So what to do about that?

If you’re healthy, get up and don’t waste a moment in going after what gives you joy!!!! There is no other moment to do it or prepare for it like the present. You have good health. Be aware of how rich you are because of it. How long will you postpone going after what fills you? And why would you?

If you are not healthy, determine whether you are not doing it because you have fear or whether it really is not possible for you physically. If it’s because of fear, face the fear; give it the finger and go! We can’t let fear be what defines our life with disease. The thoughts of “what if” will disable you further in life. Don’t allow that to happen. That switch from “what if” to “I’m doing it” may turn into the best thing that happens to you. It certainly will be, if you’re doing what your heart wants to do.

Now, for those of us whose physical disability may make it a real problem? Find ways of circumventing whatever it is that is an issue. Please don’t think I am minimizing your circumstances. But, it’s important that you keep living. So, start thinking of ways in which you can do what your heart wants. Sure, it might not be easy, but I guarantee it will be worth it. I believe that if you continue to push through to those things, people, and/or events that give you joy; they will also improve your health. No matter what the state of your health is, make sure you are living. Make each breath count. The beauty of determination and the the mind is that it can change the course or disease. Give it a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to win.

AMAZING RESULTS

Slide1.jpg

My journey to India has ended. I have been home for almost two weeks. The first week home was a difficult re-entry into the normal routine. Of course the first couple of days were jet lag, after all it was a thirteen and a half hour time difference. But in addition, my body was screaming for more rest, so I had no choice but to give what it was needing. Was the purpose of my trip served? YES!!!!!! The cough is gone. The congestion in my head is gone. The redness and burning in my eyes has subsided. The “fog” has been lifted. The allergy symptoms, that for years have been a constant companion, have vanished.

The garden outside my room held the key to my recovery. The incredible power that each plant holds, when used to address the cause of the imbalance for each individual, is astounding. I am in awe of what has happened to me in the past few weeks. I went with the hope that I would get a little relief. I have returned with immense gratitude and convinced that I must let you all know the incredible power to heal that Ayurveda holds. Please understand that by no means am I suggesting that someone stop taking their allopathic medication. But I am saying, that no matter what disease you have, I believe that Ayurveda will support any treatment you are undergoing and enhance and balance the body to make it more receptive to healing. Not only do herbs and plants address the source of the imbalance, but also learning lifestyle changes so that our bodies are better supported. I’ll give you an example. It turns out that some of what I had been doing, which I thought was healthy, wasn’t healthy for me. I love to eat raw vegetables. My lunch of choice was chopped raw veggies with avocado dressing. Well, for my dosha (constitution) I need to be eating cooked food. I should be eating things which are warm and cooked with ghee or olive oil. For someone else those raw vegetables are perfect, just not for me. I can’t argue with success. I feel so much better, and my body is losing weight that it was previously holding on to. The inflammation is decreasing. I will continue to eat my veggies cooked. I will give this body what is good for it.

It was an incredibly beautiful experience in wellness. If this peaks your interest and you would like to know more, you are welcome to send me a message. The reason I write and try to give insight into my experience is to help others with their health struggles. Whether it’s MS or any other chronic disease. I may not have the answer, but I will sure try to point you in the direction of someone who does. Overcoming MS gave me a purpose; to help others overcome, transcend and thrive…

MS AWARENESS

Slide1.jpg

March has been chosen as the month for MS awareness and orange is the color of choice. We all know someone who has been diagnosed with MS, but don’t necessarily know what that means. This is the time to become educated and learn about what it is and how it can affect the body. The MS ride is one which can be difficult to explain. How to explain fatigue so heavy that even lifting an arm can be a daunting task? How to describe the heaviness that sets in to a perfectly healthy foot that doesn’t seem to want to respond? How to explain numbness, but feeling, at the same time in the body? How to explain the intense heat in an ear canal that is otherwise healthy? How to explain not having enough balance to take a step at any given unpredictable point in time? How to explain these and so many other symptoms manifesting themselves randomly? Same disease, but not the same symptoms. Impossible to explain, unless you’ve lived it. Impossible to diagnose unless you’re an experienced and knowledgeable doctor. That’s why there needs to be more awareness of this disease, for those who may be having symptoms, but have not been properly diagnosed by a doctor. Let’s take this month to gain power through knowledge and possibly help someone who is in need of a proper diagnosis.

UNDERSTANDING NATURE

Slide1.jpg

Let me be more specific about what has been happening to me to make me wind up here at the IAIM Health Center.  One of the problems I was having with allergies was how my eyes were being affected.  They were red a lot of the time and they itched and burned.  There were days when my vision would get affected and as a result even with my glasses on, I sometimes had a hard time reading.  So, after being examined by an eye specialist, I was started on eye treatments right away.  In the first sequence of treatments my eyes were washed with water infused with herbs specifically made for my particular constitution.  After 5 days I was given an eye check up again.  My vision was improving and I was switched to another treatment.  This time a paste was placed on my eyelids for about 20 minutes.  I was then given eye drops and then fresh lotus flower petals were placed on my eyelids and my eyes were bandaged for 45 minutes as I lay resting.  The first time they took the bandages off was unbelievable.  My eyes were clear and the burn and itching in my eyes were gone.  This treatment continued for a few more days.  I really can’t believe the difference these treatments have made.  Every ingredient was plant based and specifically chosen and prepared for me.  I’m really looking forward to how much they will improve, because it’s my understanding that they will continue to improve when I go home.

Ayurveda is about “understanding nature and using nature.”

Namaste-the ability to heal in me, is the same ability to heal in you.
