This morning it hit me! It just dawned on me, as I was waking up, that I have been referring to my symptoms as “mine.” When I talked about what was happening to me, I would refer to it as “my allergies.” I had been breaking one of my most fundamental rules in healing. Taking on symptoms as if they were mine. Of course these allergies weren’t leaving me! I was telling them I owned them; that they belonged to me. Well, they are no longer mine and I am releasing all the symptoms in this healing process.

In order for a disease to leave us, we must let it go. We can’t refer to it as “my MS or my allergies.” It is simply a disease that is temporarily manifesting in our bodies. Ayurveda addresses symptoms and looks at the body as a wholistic entity. It identifies what imbalance there is in the body, which is creating a disease. By addressing the cause, the system as a whole comes in to balance. The symptoms are a gage to identify the imbalances. In this way the process of homeostasis can be reached for a healthy and vibrant body.

MY BODY IS RESPONDING

What happens when you wake up at 5am to the sound of peacocks outside the window and are doing yoga by 6:00am? Your body starts responding to your commitment to it. Yes! I have spent the past 9 days doing one and a half hours of yoga at sunrise and one and a half our hours at sunset. I have had multiple daily treatments to address my allergy problems and I’m astonished at what is happening. My body is listening and loving my dedication!

Today is my ninth day of treatments at the IAIM Health Center in Bangalore, India. It’s an Ayurvedic center which uses allopathic diagnostic devices along with the Ayurvedic protocol. The result is incredible. I arrived here on February 9th at 6am and by 12pm I had already had consultations with two doctors and started receiving multiple Ayurvedic treatments on that day. The results have been astounding. The reason I came was for allergies, which were really having a detrimental effect on my health. But in treating my body as a whole, more than my allergies have been addressed. They are aware of my success in overcoming MS, but can see the inflammation in my body and have not only been successful in treating it, but have raised the vitality level in my body in a significant way. All this has been done in just nine days. If my Internet cooperates, I will be sharing with you in the next few days, some of treatments that I have been having and some of the amazing things that are being done here. I am excited to share this with you!

Namaste-the ability to heal in me, is the same ability to heal in you.

During our yoga session this morning Swami Mahesh gave us a gift for us to contemplate. I am sure it applies to all of us. Some us may be aware of it happening and some of us may not. But either way it is a very good reminder on how we tend to live our lives. I leave this with you for your contemplation.

“We spend our lives doubting our faith

But

We fully spend our lives having faith in our doubts.”

On our healing journeys we have to be very still in our faith, with not a shadow of a doubt. In that stillness there will be no need to buy into all our fears and our doubts. Don’t let your doubts be your reality.

So after years of wanting to go to India for an Ayurveda yoga retreat, I have finally found myself in Bengaluru, India. I was looking out the window of my room. The door was open and I was listening to a beautiful Indian tune playing softly in the background, coming from outside. An overwhelming feeling of gratitude overcame me. It had not really sunk in that I was here until that moment. I have been here for four days, which seem like four weeks. So much has taken place in the course of that time. I came here with no expectations, just a need to heal. I have managed to overcome MS, but I haven’t been able to get rid of my allergies. I began my journey with MS with traditional medication, but Ayurveda supported the healing process almost right from the beginning. Twenty years have passed since then. Some of the ayurvedic practices have stuck with me, but for the most part, Ayurveda has not been a big part of my life since I healed. Now, I have come full circle. I am back to this science to help me, in gratitude. As I go along, I will be sharing with you my experience. I hope you will join me for the next couple of weeks. It’s my hope that my journey can help not only me, but inspire others to inquire and find out more of what this science has to offer.

The belly breath improves digestion. It massages the internal organs, and as a result, they function in the way they were meant to function-in a healthy manner. In our society many people suffer from constipation due to shallow breathing. Once we begin to breathe through our bellies we begin to have regular bowel movements right away. A healthy digestion paves the way for a healthy immune system.
